PRODUCT:

Sea Commander is a low-cost, buoy-based high-integrity system providing local control, monitoring, chemical injection and pigging to a remote subsea development or step-out. The system is designed to replace the conventional umbilical control link between an offshore production platform or on-shore terminal and outlying subsea production or injection facilities. Sea Commander can be removed from a field and decommissioned or re-deployed at minimum cost.

Sea Commander is proven, with one system deployed at East Spar, 60 kms off the NW Coast of Australia, and a second system controlling 10 subsea wells in the EM Field offshore South Africa.

Sea Commander offers great economy over existing subsea control systems. It uses conventional technology to reduce and simplify the equipment on the seabed, relocating systems at the surface in a relatively accessible environment where they can be maintained or inspected without the use of costly diving support vessels. The system thus offers both Capex and Opex cost reductions.

REMOTE FIELD CONTROL

Sea Commander provides control via a telemetry link between a host platform and remote buoys installed locally to the production wells using satellite, line-of-sight or HF radio systems.

Power is provided by long-running diesel generator sets. Typically 4x6 kW units are used. During normal operation (un-manned) only one will be operating. A second unit is started during manned intervention to provide additional power for lighting, ventilation, personnel lift or hoist and other services. The remaining two diesels provide further standby. In the unlikely event of a complete breakdown, emergency power system batteries provide for 10 days continued operation.

As Sea Commander does not have a long umbilical it is less exposed to damage from marine vessel movements. The presence of Sea Commander will clearly and precisely mark the location of subsea wellheads, thus reducing the risk of damage caused by nets or anchors.

Our Field Control Systems can also be used to monitor vessel movements within a field and can, if required, provide environmental monitoring or air and vessel radio navigation beacons.

Sea Commander provides:
• Remote Field Control and Intervention -
  Unlimited Distance
• Low Capex & Opex (Low Life Cycle Cost)
• High Reliability/Availability (>99.5%)
• Minimal Environmental Impact
• Re-usability
• Deep Water Capability (up to 2000m)
• 6 Monthly Maintenance Intervals
• Local Power Generation (4.5 MW plus)
• Remote Pigging and Intervention
• Remote Chemical Storage and Injection
• Helicopter or Boat Access
